Former NFL Player Chris Draft Speaks at Lung Cancer Awareness Event in Boston

Former NFL player Chris Draft knows the dangers of lung cancer all too well. He was able to share the very personal story about how it has affected his familly at the 10th anniversary Shine a Light on Lung Cancer event in Boston, Massachusetts.

There were several presentations about a disease that is the number one cancer killer in the U.S. Draft stressed that anyone could be a candidate to have lung cancer.

Free test kits were given out to all in attendance. The 920-foot Prudential Tower was also lit up in blue to remember those affected by lung cancer.

Draft advocates for lung cancer awareness across the country after his wife died from the disease in 2011 after never previously being a smoker. The Chris Draft Family Foundation does work in her memory.

After an 11-year NFL career, Draft has a significant platform to reach people. He was originally a sixth round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 1998 NFL Draft. '

Draft spent time with six different franchises, but had the greatest run of his career with the Atlanta Falcons from 2000-2004. He collected 667 tackles before retiring in 2010.
