The male congregation of Chino Valley Community Church is set to get a powerful presentation from a sports legend. Pro Football Hall of Famer Jackie Slater is the keynote speaker for the church's men's breakfast.
The event takes place at 8 a.m. on July 29th. Slater will be sharing his Christian testimony and talk about his football career with the Los Angeles Rams.
Slater's long tenure as a member of the community should also be a huge point of connection with his audience. Individual tickets are available through the church office for $10.
After being a third round pick in the 1976 NFL Draft, Slater spent his entire 20-year career with the Rams. He is regarded as one of the top linemen in league history.
Slater was a seven-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro. On four occasions, he was named NFL Players Association NFC offensive lineman of the year.
Slater has his #78 jersey retired by the Rams and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001. He is currently the offensive line coach for Azusa Pacific University.
