UConn Women's Coach Geno Auriemma Shares March Madness Stories at Chamber Breakfast

University of Connecticut women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma is getting ready to try to win another championship with his Huskies in the NCAA Tournament. He took some time Monday morning to recount fun stories from March Madness at the Middlesex Chamber of the Commerce monthly breakfast.

Auriemma addressed a crowd of about 650 people at the Radisson Hotel in Cromwell. He talked about the level of expectations around the program and what it was liked to have their 111-game winning streak snapped last year in the Final Four.

Auriemma also said the reward of having high expectations is that you have a passionate fan base supporting you. UConn kicks off their NCAA Tournament journey Saturday at home against Saint Francis University.

Auriemma will be trying to lead the Huskies to their 12th national championship this spring. He is an astounding 1023-135 in 35 seasons guiding the UConn program.

Auriemma is an eight-time Naismith Coach of the Year. His teams have won 19 Big East regular season championships and the first five titles in the American Athletic Conference.

Auriemma has also been the head coach of the U.S. women's national team since 2009 and led them to two Olympic gold medals. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
