About Aaliyah Edwards
Aaliyah Edwards is a Canadian WNBA player for the Washington Mystics. Hailing from Kingston, Ontario, she was drafted sixth overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft following a standout career at UConn (2020–2024). At UConn, she averaged 17.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in her senior year, earning first-team All-Big East, second-team All-America, and Big East Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in 2023. She helped UConn reach multiple Final Four appearances.
Internationally, Edwards has been a key figure for Canada since her senior team debut at 16. She won silver at the 2017 FIBA U16 Americas Championship, silver at the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup, and bronze in 2023. She represented Canada at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
In 2025, she joined Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 women’s basketball league, and reached the 1v1 tournament finals. Edwards, the first Canadian to sign an NIL deal with Adidas in 2024, sports purple and yellow braids as a nod to Kobe Bryant.
