About Aldon Smith
During Aldon Smith's first go-around in the NFL, he was one of the best pass rushers in the league. The former San Francisco 49ers star was the NFC Defensive Player of the Year while earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2012. That season, he had 19.5 sacks and the 49ers went to Super Bowl XLVII. In week 11, Smith set a Monday Night Football record with 5.5 sacks against the Chicago Bears. He also broke Reggie White’s record as the fastest man to 30 sacks in 2012. In addition to his trip to the Super Bowl, Smith reached the NFC Championship Game in each of his first three seasons.
The Niners originally took Smith seventh overall out of Missouri in the 2011 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Columbia and earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2009. Smith came out of Raytown High School in Missouri and received a lot of interest from big name schools across the Midwest.
