About Allison Schmitt
Allison Schmitt has been a mainstay on the international swimming circuit. She competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Schmitt has racked up a total of eight Olympic medals. In her 2008 debut in Beijing, she won bronze as a member of the Team USA 4x200 meter freestyle relay team. Schmitt's true Olympic breakout came in 2012 when she won five medals. She set a new Olympic record with her gold medal performance in the 200 meter freestyle. Schmitt also contributed to the U.S. teams that set world records in both the 4x200 meter freestyle relay and the 4x100 meter medley relay. She competed the medal haul with a silver in the 400 meter freestyle and a bronze in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. Schmitt came back for a third Olympics in 2016, winning a gold in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. In addition to her Olympic prowess, she is also a three-time medalist at the World Championships. Schmitt swam in college at the University of Georgia. She was four-time NCAA Champion for the Bulldogs and contributed to the team that won the NCAA title in 2013.
