About Andrew Zimbalist
Andrew Zimbalist is an economist that has been a consultant for a bevy of sports entities and an author of twenty-two books. Dr. Zimbalist is a professor of economics and Smith College and received his master’s and doctorate from Harvard. He has been at Smith College since 1974. Many of his books focus on sports business issues. Dr. Zimbalist’s 1992 book, Baseball and Billions: A Probing Look Inside the Big Business of our National Pastime was an early hit that garnered him a good deal of notoriety. He is a go-to authority for national media outlets on these topics. Many of the biggest legal cases that have involved sports teams or leagues over the last 30 years have turned to Dr. Zimbalist for his expertise. He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Sports Economics. Much of his work has also centered on the economic development in Latin America. Dr. Zimbalist has consulted for national and international organizations with regards to Latin America.
