Anthony Conrad Nesty, a trailblazer in the world of competitive swimming and coaching, has achieved remarkable success both in the pool and on the pool deck. As a former Olympic gold medalist for Suriname, Nesty etched his name in history by becoming the first Black swimmer to win Olympic gold in 1988. Today, he serves as the head coach for both the men's and women's swim teams at the University of Florida, a role he has embraced with distinction, leading his athletes to numerous victories and personal bests. His dedication and expertise have recently culminated in his appointment as the head coach for the USA Men's Swimming team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, marking him as the first Black head coach in USA Swimming's Olympic history.
