About Bernie Federko
Bernie Federko played 15 seasons in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings from 1976 to 1990. Federko is a native of Foam Lake, Canada and got his start in professional hockey as the 7th overall pick by the St. Louis Blues in the 1976 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to being drafted he played three seasons with the Saskatoon Blades in the WCHL and scored 133 goals in 206 games. After being drafted he played briefly in the CHL with the Kansas City Blues and scored 30 goals in 42 games before joining the St. Louis Blues later that season. Federko would go on to play the first 14 seasons of his career with the Blues before retiring with the Red Wings in 1990. During his career he scored 369 goals and added 761 assists for a total of 1,130 points in 1,000 career games in route to earning All-Star selections in 1980 and 1981. He currently holds St. Louis Blues franchise records with 927 games played, 721 career assists, 1,073 career points, and 66 career playoff assists. He also holds Blues single season playoff records with 21 goals in 1986 and 15 assists in 1982. In honor of his contributions to the franchise the St. Louis Blues retired his legendary No. 24 jersey in 1992.
