About Bill Carmody
Bill Carmody is the head men's basketball coach at Holy Cross. In his first season, the Crusaders rattled off four wins in the Patriot League Tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. They accomplished this feat after a rebuilding first year left them 0-9 on the road in Patriot League play during the regular season. Prior to arriving at Holy Cross, Carmody spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Northwestern. He had some success with the perenially downtrodden program, getting four NIT berths from 2009-2012. Nestled in that run were a pair of 20-win seasons. One of the other highlights of his tenure included an 8-8 record in Big Ten play during the 2003-2004 season. That was the first time the Wildcats had finished .500 or better in conference since the 1967-68 campaign. In 2009, Carmody also led Northwestern to their first Top 25 ranking since 2009. However, he had his greatest head coaching success before arriving in Evanstonat Princeton. After 14 year apprenticeship as an assistant with the Tigers, Carmody took over the program. In four seasons, he went 92-25 overall, 50-6 in Ivy League play, and went to two NCAA Tournaments. His .786 winning percentage is a record for Ivy League coaches that still stands.
