About Bobby Orr
Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Orr is a Boston Bruins legend. Orr, who played 12 seasons in the NHL, 10 with the Bruins and two with the Chicago Blackhawks, is considered to be one of the greatest hockey players of all-time.
During his career with Boston he led the Bruins to Stanley Cup victories in 1970 and 1972. In addition to his team’s success he also collected several individual honors and accolades. In 1967 he was named the NHL Rookie of the Year, setting the stage for a hall of fame career in which he would collect three consecutive NHL MVP awards from 1970-72, eight NHL Defensive Player of the Year awards, and eight All-Star selections.
To put his accomplishments in perspective, to this day Orr remains the only defenseman in NHL history to have won the league scoring title and is the only defenseman to lead the league in points and assists in a single season. Despite preferring to stay out of the spotlight since his retirement in 1979, Orr has been an excellent ambassador for the sport of Hockey all over the world.
