About Brandon Phillips
Brandon Phillips is an MLB second baseman who has been a three-time All-Star. Phillips was a star athlete in high school, and he was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the 1999 MLB Draft, choosing to sign with the team instead of attending the University of Georgia. In 2002, Phillips was traded to the Cleveland Indians, where he would make his major league debut with the team in 2003 when he won the job as starting second baseman. Phillips would bounce between the Indians and their Triple A affiliate for most of his career, and he was eventually traded in 2006 to the Cincinnati Reds where he would develop into one of the league’s top second baseman. In 2010, Phillips earned his first All-Star nomination after batting .275 with 18 homeruns and 59 RBI along with winning a Gold Glove award, his first since 2008. Since his breakout season, Phillips has been All-Star two more times, and has won various fielding and batting awards as he continues to be a solid offensive and defensive force.
