About Brandon Saad
Brandon Saad is an NHL left winger who currently plays for the Chicago Blackhawks. Saad rose to hockeyprominence as a member of the United States U18 team that won the 2010 IIHF U18 Championships inBelarus. In 2011, Saad was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks, where he wouldinstantly become a starter. Just five days later, Saad was re-assigned to the junior league, where hespent the entire season as the team’s captain, and was recalled to the Blackhawks for their 2012 playoffrun. In anticipation of the NHL lockout, Saad was assigned to the Blackhawks AHL affiliate for the 2012-2013 season, and he waseventually named the starter for the start of the lockout shortened 2013 NHLseason. On February 5th, 2013, Saad scored hisfirst NHL goal in a game against the San Jose Sharks, andhe played well enough to be named a finalist for the Calder MemorialTrophy. Despite being just arookie, Saad’s offense was a key factor in the Blackhawks’ first championship since 2010, as they wonthe 2013 Stanley Cup.
