About Brandon Saad
Brandon Saad is an NHL left winger who currently plays for the Vegas Golden Knights. Saad rose to hockey prominence as a member of the United States U18 team that won the 2010 IIHF U18 Championships in Belarus. In 2011, Saad was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks, where he would instantly become a starter. Just five days later, Saad was re-assigned to the junior league, where he spent the entire season as the team’s captain, and was recalled to the Blackhawks for their 2012 playoff run. In anticipation of the NHL lockout, Saad was assigned to the Blackhawks AHL affiliate for the 2012- 2013 season, and he was eventually named the starter for the start of the lockout shortened 2013 NHL season. On February 5th, 2013, Saad scored his first NHL goal in a game against the San Jose Sharks, and he played well enough to be named a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy. Despite being just a rookie, Saad’s offense was a key factor in the Blackhawks’ first championship since 2010, as they won the 2013 Stanley Cup.
