About Brian Urlacher
Brian Urlacher is a retired NFL linebacker who played 12 seasons in the league with the Chicago Bears. Urlacher got his start as a linebacker at the University of New Mexico, where he was a star for the team’s defense, recording 442 tackles, three interceptions, 11 sacks and 11 forced fumbles. Urlacher was also a two way star, as he caught six touchdowns on offense and returned five kicks for touchdowns. His play earned him many awards, including an All American nomination in 1999. Following his graduation from New Mexico, Urlacher entered the 2000 NFL Draft, and was selected ninth overall to the Chicago Bears. Urlacher immediately won the team’s starting job as a rookie, and would go on to be a mainstay of the feared Bears’ defense for the next 12 years. A fan favorite, Urlacher was voted to eight Pro Bowls and named a first team All Pro four times. His play in 2006 was crucial to the Bears’ unexpected Super Bowl run in 2006, and he retired in 2012 due to lingering injuries. Urlacher is considered one of the best players in Bears’ history, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
