About Cale Makar
Cale Makar is a standout for the Colorado Avalanche. Makar was originally selected by the Avalanche with the third overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Makar made his debut for the franchise during the 2019 NHL Playoffs, becoming the first defensemen to score his first goal in the postseason. Makar was off and running, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy the following season while finishing runner-up for the James Norris Memorial Trophy. He also set a playoff record for points by a defenseman. In his second full season, Makar was named an All-Star for the first time, broke the Avalanche's record for goals by a defenseman and won the Norris Trophy. Colorado was on top of the Western Conference during the regular season and went all the way to win the Stanley Cup. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy for his efforts leading the team.
