About Cappie Pondexter
Cappie Pondexter is currently a professional guard for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. Pondexter played basketball for John Marshall Metropolitan High School where she was named a WBCA All-American. In 2001, Pondexter participated in the WBCA High School All-American game where she earned MVP honors. She attended Rutgers University where she led the Scarlett Knights to back-to-back Big East Championships in 2005 and 2006. Some of the awards Pondexter received at Rutgers include: Big East Rookie of the Year and the 2006 Women’s Basketball News Service National Player of the Year. The Phoenix Mercury selected Pondexter as the 2nd overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft. She helped the Mercury to two WNBA Finals in 2007 and 2009. In March 2010, Pondexter was traded to the Indiana Fever by her request. Pondexter plays internationally as well which started in 2006 when she joined the Fenerbache Istanbul Club. She has also participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics where she played for the USA and helped the team bring home the Gold.
