About Carl Yastrzemski
Carl Yastrzemski is a former professional left fielder and first baseman for the Boston Red Sox of the MLB. Yastrzemski played baseball at a young age on his father’s potato farm. Throughout high school, Yastrzemski played basketball and attended Notre Dame on a basketball scholarship before he decided to pursue his baseball career. Yastrzemski signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1959 and they sent him to play for the minor-league Raleigh Capitals. He was then moved to the Minneapolis Millers for the post-season as well as the 1960 season. Yastrzemski’s major league career began in 1961. Yastrzemski’s best season came in 1967 when he won the American League Triple Crown. Yastrzemski spent his entire 23-year career with the Red Sox. He was an 18x All- Star, AL MVP in 1967, 7x Gold Glove Award winner and All-Star Game MVP in 1970. Yastrzemski retired from baseball in 1983 at 44 years old. In 1989, he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
