About Catriona Le May Doan
Catriona Le May Doan is a two-time Olympic gold medal speed skater. Le May Doan captured gold medals in 500 meters at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. She also scored a bronze in the 1000 meters in 1998. Le May Doan medaled at 11 World Championships for Canada, including winning five golds. She was the first woman to ever break the 38 second barrier in the 500 meters, which set off an impressive string of world record setting performances from 1997-2001. For her incredible sporting feats, Le May Doan was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 2002, her autobiography, Going For Gold, was published. Her post-skating life has also been filled with opportunities in broadcasting and motivational speaking.
