About Chuck Kaiton
Chuck Kaiton is a retired American radio play-by-play announcer, best known for his 39-year tenure with the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL from 1979 to 2018. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Kaiton began his broadcasting career at the University of Michigan, covering Wolverines hockey. He moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1975, broadcasting for the Wisconsin Badgers and earning the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year Award in 1979. That year, he joined the Whalers, continuing with the franchise after relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1997. He served as president of the NHL Broadcasters Association and received the Lester Patrick Trophy in 2021 for contributions to hockey in the U.S.
