About Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a former professional racecar driver who won 26 times in the NASCAR Cup Series. Earnhardt Jr. is the son of legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, who is considered one of the best drivers of all time. As he rose through the ranks, Jr. gained immense popularity due to his father's and his success. He drove two seasons in the NASCAR Busch Series, winning the championship both years. His first full season in the Sprint Cup was in 2000 when he raced the #8 Budweiser Chevrolet for DEI, recording two wins and a win at the All-Star race. The 2001 season would be life-changing for Jr., as his father was killed in a devastating crash during the season-opening Daytona 500. He would go on to win three races, finishing eighth in the points standings and honoring his late father with every victory. Jr. would race for DEI for the next seven seasons before joining NASCAR powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports, Most notably, Earnhardt won the sport's signature race, the Daytona 500, twice. He won the Most Popular Driver Award 15 straight times from 2003-2017. Earnhardt has capitalized on his popularity in retirement as a successful businessman and broadcaster for NASCAR on NBC.
