About Dan Fouts
Dan Fouts is a retired NFL quarterback who played 15 seasons in the league with the San Diego Chargers. Prior to his time in the NFL, Fouts was a standout quarterback at the University of Oregon, setting the school record for passing yards with 5,995 in his three year career along with 18 other school records. In 1973, Fouts decided to turn professional, entering the 1973 NFL Draft where he was selected in the third round by the San Diego Chargers. Fouts’ first few years in the NFL were fairly forgettable, but he rose to prominence in 1978 with the arrival of head coach Don Coryell. Under Coryell, Fouts ran one of the most electrifying passing offenses in NFL history, breaking multiple NFL records and earning six Pro Bowl nominations and the NFL MVP in 1982. Over his career, Fouts threw for 43,040 yards with 254 touchdowns, making him one of the best quarterbacks of his time and in NFL history. His legacy was cemented in 1993 when he was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Fouts is now an analyst/broadcaster for various NFL games.
