Dana Holgorsen

Dana Holgorsen is well known for high-octane offenses and is most associated with his stints as a head coach at West Virginia and Houston. Originally from Iowa, Holgorsen attended Iowa Wesleyan where he would play football for three seasons.

Following his graduation from college, Holgorsen started his coaching career at Valdosta State as an assistant coach in 1993. For the next several years, Holgorsen would be an assistant coach at various schools, including Mississippi College, Wingate, Texas Tech, and Houston.

At Houston, Holgorsen became known as an offensive mastermind, coaching the quarterbacks and running offenses as the offensive coordinator. His teams often put up video game numbers and were constantly one of the top-ranked offenses in the nation.

In 2010, Holgorsen was hired to be offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State University, where his offense would shatter previous school records for scoring, passing yards, pass completions, and many more. His success as an offensive coordinator made Holgorsen one of the top head coaching prospects in the country, and he was hired in 2011 to become head coach at West Virginia University.

In eight seasons at WVU, Holgorsen led the Mountaineers to a 61-41 record with one conference championship and a BCS bowl victory in 2011. He then took over at Houston, where he had back-to-back winning seasons in 2021-22, including a 12-2 record and trip to the American Athletic Conference championship game that first year.
