About Darren Clarke
Darren Clarke is a former Open Championship winner and five-Time Ryder Cup professional golfer. He won the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George's at age 42, becoming the oldest Claret Jug winner since 1967, defeating Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson by three strokes. This triumph came five years after his first wife Heather's death from breast cancer, during which he delivered an unbeaten Ryder Cup performance in 2006 at The K Club. A stalwart of European golf, Clarke played on the European Tour and PGA Tour, winning 21 tournaments worldwide. He captained Europe in the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine. Now competing on the PGA Tour Champions and European Senior Tour, he remains a fixture in the sport for his charismatic presence, resilience, and love of the game.
