About Darryl Sutter
Darryl Sutter played in the NHL for nine seasons with the New Brunswick Hawks and Chicago Blackhawks from 1979 to 1987. Sutter is a Canadian native and played five seasons in the minors and one year in Japan before being selected with the 179th overall pick in the 11th round of the 1978 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. During his NHL career he scored 161 goals and added 118 assists for a total of 279 points in 406 career games. He also added 24 goals and 19 assists for a total of 43 points in 51 career playoff games. After his playing career came to an end he turned his focus towards coaching and eventually landed the head-coaching job with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1992. He’d go on to head up the San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings and win two Stanley Cup titles as the coach of the Kings in 2012 and 2014.
