David Robertson

David Robertson grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and played his college ball at the University of Alabama.  After earning consecutive All-American honors on the mound and helping the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship in 2006 he was selected by the New York Yankees in the 17th round of the 2006 MLB Draft.  Upon joining the Yankees he pitched in the minors for one year before getting the call to the big leagues.  Since 2008 he has been one of their most reliable relievers, wining 25 games out of the bullpen and posting a sparkling 2.81 ERA to go along with 47 saves and 524 strikeouts.  One year after his debut he led the Yankees to a World Series title and then earned his first All-Star selection in 2011.  After the 2014 season he signed a four-year, $46 million contract with the Chicago White Sox.  In 2011 Robertson started a charitable foundation called High Socks For Hope in which he pledged to donate $100 for every strikeout he recorded during the season to assist the victims of the devastating tornados that hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  For his work he was awarded the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award in 2011.
