About Deena Kastor
Deena Kastor is the American record holder in the marathon, half-marathon, road 15K, road 8K and road 5K. During her career she has built up a resume that is rivaled by no other American distance runner in history. While running at the University of Arkansas she was a four-time SEC Champion and eight-time AllAmerican. After earning her degree she turned pro and has since won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in the marathon and won the 2005 Chicago Marathon, and 2006 London Marathon while setting top American marks at the 2006 Berlin Half Marathon, 2003 Gate River Run 15K, 205 The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8K and 2002 Carlsbad 5000 5k. During her decorated career she has earned numerous honors from USA Track and Field including the 2003 Jesse Owens Award and the 2002, 2003, and 2004 C.C. Jackson Awards. She’s also been named USATF Runner of the Year four times, USATF Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2001 and 2003 and the top women’s marathoner in the world by Track and Field News magazine in 2006. In 2007 she was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
