About Don Edwards
Don Edwards was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario and played 11 seasons in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs from 1976 to 1986. Edwards got his start in pro hockey after being selected with the 135th overall pick in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft by the San Diego Mariners. After two seasons with the Hershey Bears in the AHL he made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres in 1976. Over the next decade he won 208 games in the regular season and posted 16 shutouts in 459 career starts. He also won 16 games in the playoffs in route to earning two NHL All-Star selections in 1980 and 1982. In 1987 he signed with the Branford Mott’s Clammatos in the OHL-Sr. league and led his team to an Allan Cup Championship. Edwards retired in 1988 as a member of the Nova Scotia Oilers in the AHL. After his retirement he served as an assistant with the Los Angeles Kings and Carolina Hurricanes, and went on to serve as the general manager of the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL from 2007 to 2008.
