About Doug Mientkiewicz
Doug Mientkiewicz is a retired MLB first baseman who spent 12 seasons in the league with seven different teams. Prior to his time in the MLB, Mientkiewicz played three seasons at Florida State University, with his best season coming in his junior year when he batted .371 with 19 homeruns and 80 RBI. Following that season, Mientkiwicz was drafted in the fifth round of the 1995 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins. In 1998, Mientkiewicz was a September call up with the Twins, batting .200 with two RBIs in just 25 at bats. Mientkiewicz would go on to play with the Twins for the majority of his career until being traded mid-season to the Boston Red Sox in 2004. Mientkiewicz would go on to play five more seasons in the league, making one year stops with the Mets, Royals, Yankees, Pirates, and the Dodgers, eventually ending his career in 2009. Mientkiewicz is now the manager of the Twins’ minor league organization.
