About Eddie Royal
As arguably the best football player in the stout state of Virginia in his class, Eddie Royal made decided to stay in state and play football for Virginia Tech. As a freshman, Royal came in and produced 1,101 all-purpose yards as he earned freshman All-American honors. Over his next three seasons Royal proved to be a dynamic athlete showing of his skills as a receiver, rusher, punt returner, and kick returner. By the end of his college career he set a school record for career all-purpose yards with 4,686 and broke the ACC career record for punt return yards with 1,296. Royal was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2008 NFL Draft and in Week 1 of his rookie year Royal caught 9 passes for 146 yards and a TD, earning himself Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week honors. By the end of his rookie season Royal had set franchise records for receiving yards for a rookie (980) and TDs for a rookie (5). Early into his next season, Royal became the 4th fastest person in NFL history to reach 100 career catches.
