Emerson Boozer

Emerson Boozer spent his first three professional years as a member of the AFC New York Jets as an elusive open field runner with an uncanny ability to break tackles. In the second season of his career, Boozer sustained a knee injury that took away his elusive abilities and transformed him into a power runner and a major threat on the goal line. Boozer pulled his weight as a terrific pass blocker for a young Joe Namath on a team that won the AFL Championship in 1968 and then beat the NFL champions for the World Championship in Super Bowl III. When the Jets entered the NFL in 1970, Boozer continued to impress with his ability to score on the goal line which proved a valuable asset to Namath. Boozer was known for his dedication to his team after what could have been a Hall of Fame career was robbed of him with injuries. He made do with what he could and found ways to help contribute that other players would have shied away from. In 2010 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame for his career at Maryland State College.
