About Emerson Fittipaldi
Born into an automobile racing family, Emerson Fittipaldi was never expected to do anything else for a career. Beginning with motorcycles at the age of 14, Fittipaldis racing career spanned over 20 years. Beginning in Formula Vee, he won his first title at 21 years old and quickly moved up through Formula 3 and Formula 2. By 1972, Fittipaldi had won 5 of 11 races in Formula 1 and became the youngest driver to win the F1 Drivers Championship. After 2 Formula One World Championships, Fittipaldi switched to CART racing in 1984. Fittipaldi went on to win the CART Championship and ended up winning twice at the Indianapolis 500 in 89 and 93. The Brazilian driver ended his career after an injury in 1998 with 22 wins in his Champ Car career but made a surprise return in 2005 during a second place finish in the Grand Prix Masters race.
