About Eric Staal
Eric Staal is a center for the Minnesota Wild and he is a member of one of the most well-known families in hockey. His three younger brothers have also played in the NHL. Staal gained great notoriety playing the first 12 seasons of his career with the Carolina Hurricanes. Carolina originally selected him with the second overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was named to four All-Star teams while with the Hurricanes, including three in a row from 2007-09. During his second season, Staal led the team with 28 points in the playoffs and helped Carolina win their first Stanley Cup. He scored over 100 points in the regular season and finished fourth in Hart Memorial Trophy voting. Staal also spent a season with the New York Rangers before joining the Wild. He has represented Canada at the 2007, 2008 and 2013 World Championships as well as the 2010 Olympics.
