About Erik Karlsson
Erik Karlsson is a star for the Ottawa Senators. The Senators originally selected himin the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. A year later, Karlsson made his debut with the team. He has been named an All-Star on three occasions and is a two-time winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's best defenseman. In 2012, Karlsson made his second All-Star appearance andwas the league's leading vote-getter. That season, he was the runaway scoring leader for defensemen with 78 points and won his first Norris Trophy. Ottawa named him their ninth captain in the modern history of the franchise in 2014. At the end of that season, Karlsson won his second Norris Trophy. During the 2015-16 season, he notched an NHL-best 66 assists and hit a career-highwith 82 points. He became the first defenseman in 30 years to finish in the top five in league scoring and the first in over 40 years to finish first in assists. Karlsson has also been successful on the international stage for Sweden. At the 2014 Olympics, he tied for the tournament lead in points, helping the Swedes win a silver medal.
