Etan Thomas

Etan Thomas is a former American professional basketball player who played 9 seasons in the NBA with the Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks. Thomas played college basketball for Syracuse University from 1999-2000. During his senior year, he was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year. In 2000, the Dallas Mavericks, who soon traded him in 2001 to the Washington Wizards, drafted Thomas as the 12th overall pick. While playing for the Wizards, it was discovered that Thomas had a leaky aortic valve, which lead to open heart surgery. In June 2009, Thomas was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and a month later, he was traded again to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In September 2010, Thomas was traded for his final time to the Atlanta Hawks, where he only spent a season. In 2005, Thomas released a collection of poems called More Than An Athlete and in January 2013, he released Voices Of The Future, which is a collection of poems and essays by young writers on important worldly issues. In May 2012, Thomas released his second book titled Fatherhood. From this book he started the Fatherhood Movement.
