Evgeni Malkin

Evgeni Malkin is a Russian professional hockey player for the Pittsburg Penguins. The Penguins drafted Malkin in 2004 as the second overall draft pick through an international transfer dispute that postponed the start of his career until 2006. As a rookie, Malkin was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy for being the NHL’s best rookie. In his second year, he helped to lead the Penguins to the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals and he was runner-up for the Hart Memorial Trophy. During his third season, Malkin won the Art Ross Trophy and was the runner-up for the Hart Memorial Trophy. In 2009, Malkin won his first Stanley Cup as well as being awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy. Three years later, Malkin was awarded the Heart Memorial Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award. Malkin’s international career began in 2003 at the IIHF World U18 Championships in Yaroslavl. 2006 was a busy year for Malkin in Russia as he took part in his third World Junior Championships, his first Winter Olympics and his second World Championships. Malkin was selected to play in the 2010 Winter Olympics for the Russian Team. In 2014, Malkin was named to the 2014 Russian Olympic Ice Hockey Team.
