Faith Kipyegon

Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon has earned her title as "The Smiling Destroyer" while establishing herself as one of the most successful middle-distance runners in history. Born in Bomet, Kenya on January 10, 1994, she started her running career barefoot as a junior before becoming a global superstar. The beginning of her legendary career started when she won World Youth and Junior 1500m titles in 2011 and 2012.

Kipyegon secured Olympic gold in the 1500m at Rio 2016 before returning from maternity leave to defend her title at Tokyo 2021 and then achieved a historic third consecutive Olympic gold at Paris 2024 while setting a new Olympic record of 3:51.29. She has achieved six world championship titles while making history by winning both the 1500m and 5000m events at the 2023 World Championships.

She maintains the world records for the mile (4:07.64) and 1500m (3:49.04) while briefly holding the 5000m world record in 2023. She achieved a remarkable record by holding all three records at the same time which became a historic achievement.

Kipyegon trains under Patrick Sang at Kaptagat alongside Eliud Kipchoge while maintaining her elite athletic career and raising her family. The Olympic medalist Timothy Kitum and their daughter Alyn play a vital role in her athletic journey.

In 2025 she will attempt the most challenging endeavor of her career through Nike’s “Breaking4” project to become the first woman who can run a mile under four minutes. Faith Kipyegon represents more than athletic excellence because she embodies strength along with elegance and endless potential.
