About Frank Thomas
Frank Thomas is a retired professional baseball player who played as a designated hitter and a first baseman. During college, Thomas played baseball and football for Auburn University. In the summer of 1987, Thomas played for the U.S. Pan American Team and he earned a spot on the team that would compete in the Pan American Games, but he declined as it coincided with his football schedule. The Chicago White Sox drafted Thomas in 1989 during the MLB Draft as the 7th overall pick. On August 2, 1990, Thomas made his major league debut with the Chicago White Sox. Thomas left the White Sox on December 7, 2005 when he signed with the Oakland Athletics for a one-year $500,000 deal. In November 2006, Thomas signed a two-year $18 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. On June 28, 2007, Thomas hit his 500th home run of his career. The Blue Jays released Thomas in 2008 and four days later he signed with the Oakland Athletics. On February 12, 2010, Thomas signed a one-day contract with the White Sox where he announced his retirement. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum on January 8, 2014.
