About Hale Irwin
Hale Irwin is a professional golfer, and has competed on the PGA Tour as well as the Champions Tour. Irwin played on the University of Colorado golf team, where he was an individual NCAA champion in 1967. In 1968, Irwin turned professional, competing on the PGA Tour, where he earned his first professional victory at the 1971 Sea Pines Heritage Classic. This victory would be the first of 20 PGA Tour victories for Irwin, three of which came at the U.S. Open, his only Major Championships. Irwin was a constant in the top 5 golfers in the world, and recorded his last PGA Tour victory in 1994 MCI Heritage Golf Classic at age 49. Irwin transitioned over to the Champions Tour, and continued to dominate, racking up 45 victories, which is a Tour record. Due to his continued success, Irwin is considered to be one of the top 20 golfers of all time, and he still continues to compete on the Champions Tour to this day, adding to his legacy.
