About Harold Carmichael
Harold Carmichael is a retired NFL wide receiver who played almost the entirety of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Originally a high school quarterback, Carmichael shifted to wide receiver when he played for Southern University. After four seasons at Southern, Carmichael entered the 1971 NFL Draft, where he was selected in the seventh round by the Philadelphia Eagles. Carmichael experienced his first break out season in 1973, as he was voted to his first Pro Bowl after catching 67 passes for 1116 yards and nine touchdowns. These stats also earned Carmichael an AP Second Team All-Pro honor as well as a Pro Football Weekly First Team All Pro Honor. In 1980, Carmichael set an NFL record by catching a pass in 127 consecutive games, and was the Eagles top receiver during their 1980 Super Bowl run. Carmichael’s career began to dwindle down in 1984 when he was cut by the Eagles and the New York Jets, eventually finding a home with the Dallas Cowboys for one season before retiring. In 14 NFL seasons, Carmichael had almost 9,000 receiving yards and 79 touchdowns, earning him four Pro Bowl honors and being named to the NFL 1970’s All-Decade Team.
