About Herm Edwards
Herm Edwards is a former NFL head coach and college football head coach at Arizona State University. Edwards’ football career began as a player with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1977, and ended in 1986 with the Los Angeles Rams. Edwards was a solid defensive back, recording 33 interceptions in 135 regular season games. Following his retirement, Edwards became an assistant coach at San Jose State University, eventually moving up to the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1992 as their defensive backs coach. Three years later, Edwards went on to be the assistant head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and in 2001, was named the head coach of the New York Jets. In five seasons as head coach, Edwards led the Jets to a 39-41 record along with three playoff appearances, but he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs prior to the 2006 NFL Draft. Edwards was with the Chiefs until 2008 unitl he joined ESPN as an NFL analyst. From 2018-22, he served as the head coach of the ASU Sun Devils.
