About Hersey Hawkins
Hersey Hawkins is a retired NBA shooting guard who played 13 seasons in the league with four different teams. Prior to the NBA, Hawkins played four seasons at Bradley University, where he averaged an NCAA high 36.1 points per game and was the National College Player of the Year in 1987. Hawkins is currently eighth all time in NCAA career scoring, and he entered the 1988 NBA Draft after graduating from Bradley in 1988. Originally drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Clippers, Hawkins’ rights were immediately traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he would spend five seasons. In his rookie season, Hawkins won First Team All-Rookie honors, and he was an All-Star in 1991. In 1993, Hawkins was traded to the Charlotte Hornets, and he would spend the next few years of his career with the Hornets, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Chicago Bulls, eventually retiring after one last season with the Hornets in 2000. Over his 13 seasons, Hawkins scored 14,470 points, and he is currently pursuing a coaching career.
