Howie Kendrick

Howie Kendrick is a former MLB All-Star who currently plays for the Washington Nationals. Prior to his time in the MLB, Kendrick attended St. Johns River Community College after being cut by several other collegiate squads. In 2002, an Angels’ scout happened to come across Kendrick, and left enamored by his play and his hitting. In the 2002 MLB Draft, Kendrick was drafted in the tenth round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and by 2005 was considered one of the top prospects in baseball. He made his MLB debut in April 2006 in a game against the Detroit Tigers, starting at second base but going hitless for the day. In 2007 and 2008, Kendrick was one of the top hitting second basemen in the MLB. His first All-Star selection was in 2011, and he became one of the top players on the Angels, hitting .292 with 78 homeruns in his seven seasons with the team. In December 2014, Kendrick was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
