Jake Delhomme, with an extensive history in the sport of football, is a former quarterback in the National Football League. Delhomme was born in Louisiana in 1975 and played both quarterback and defensive back for his Catholic high school. He played college football for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed his collegiate career as the school’s all-time passing leader in yards and touchdowns. He started the last 43 games of his college career, which was a record at the time for the most amount of games started in a row by an active college quarterback. Delhomme then entered the NFL in 1997 as an undrafted free agent. He ultimately signed with the New Orleans Saints that year and was sent to Europe to play for the Amsterdam Admirals. Throughout his professional career, he played for the Saints, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and last played with the Houston Texans. He achieved his most notable accomplishments with the Carolina Panthers, setting many records and even throwing the longest past in Super Bowl history, an 85-yard pass to Musin Muhammad in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Off the field, Delhomme continues to work closely with Civitan International, a club that works with developmentally disabled people.
