James Lofton

James Lofton’s career in professional football spanned three decades as both a player and a coach.  As a player he was as good as you could get at the wide receiver position.  During his days at Stanford University he was an All-American wide out and earned the respect of NFL Scouts after catching 14 touchdowns on 1,010 receiving yards a senior.  In 1978 he joined the Green Bay Packers as a first round pick and would go on to play 16 seasons in the NFL for the Packers, Raiders, Bills, Rams and Eagles.  Over that span he caught 764 passes for 14,004 yards and 75 touchdowns and became the first player in NFL history to record 14,000 yards receiving.  During his nine seasons in Green Bay he earned seven of his eight Pro-Bowl selections and became their franchise all-time leader in receiving yards.  For his play on the field he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003.  After his playing career came to an end he coached wide receivers for the San Diego Chargers from 2002 to 2007 and Oakland Raiders in 2008.  He also served as a color commentator and expert NFL analyst for Westwood One radio from 1999 to 2001 and has since served as an analyst on the hit show, Sunday Night Football.
