About Jared Allen
Jared Allen was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Idaho State University. After three years with the Chiefs, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings where he became one of the top defensive ends in the National Football League. From 2007 to 2012 he earned five consecutive ProBowl selections and four First Team All-Pro nods. In 2007 and 2011 he led the NFL in sacks and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. In 2011 he had a career year for the Vikings, posting over 100 tackles and setting a franchise record with 22 sacks in a season. In 2014 he signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Chicago Bears with $15.5 million guaranteed. Over the course of his career, he recorded 136 sacks to go along with 643 tackles. Outside of football Allen is an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is a huge supporter of the troops, often appearing on the NFL-USO tour to visit military members stationed overseas. He has also gotten involved in the sport of curling in retirement.
