Jared McCain

The Oklahoma City Thunder employ Jared McCain as their professional basketball player in the NBA. Born on February 20, 2004, in Sacramento, California, he attended Centennial High School in Corona, where he was named California Gatorade Player of the Year during his junior season. McCain participated in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game and joined Team USA for the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship where they won gold.

McCain joined Duke University in June 2023 after his freshman year. He began every game of his 36-game season while scoring 14.3 points and grabbing 5.0 rebounds per contest. During his game against Florida State he reached 35 points which established a new Duke freshman record for most points scored in a single game and tied the record held by Zion Williamson. McCain established a Duke NCAA Tournament record when he hit eight three-pointers against James Madison. The ACC All-Rookie selection and NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team member McCain received both awards during his rookie season.

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted McCain as their 16th overall pick during the 2024 NBA Draft. During his rookie season McCain received the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award for October and November 2024 while leading all rookies with 16.0 points per game. The NBA recorded his achievement as the first rookie to achieve 10 three-pointers in his opening two games.

McCain has built massive social media popularity through his TikTok account which reaches 3 million followers and his Instagram account which has 1 million followers. Through his entertaining personality and his viral dance videos he has become one of the most well-known athletes on social media platforms. The NBA continues to be his main focus as he develops his basketball skills while maintaining his online popularity.
