About Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Jared Saltalamacchia was a first round pick of the Atlanta Braves in 2003 and made his big-league debut with the Braves in 2007. That same season he was involved in a blockbuster trade with the Texas Rangers and headed to the Lone Star state. He remained with the Ranges until heading to the Boston Red Sox in 2010. In 2013 he helped the Red Sox to a World Series title before migrating south to the Miami Marlins in 2014. With 14 characters in his last name, Saltalamacchia holds the distinction of having the longest name in Major League Baseball history. Prior to joining the Marlins, he had a career year in 2013, posting a career-high .273 average and 40 doubles to go along with 14 home runs. Salty went on to play several more seasons for different franchises before retiring in 2019.
