About Jay Gruden
Jay Gruden comes from a football family. His brother, Jon Gruden, won a Super Bowl as a head coach in the NFL and Jay won four ArenaBowl championships during his playing days and two more as a coach in the Arena Football League. After a standout career at quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals in college Gruden headed to the Arena Football League and starred for the Barcelona Dragons, Tampa Bay Storm and Orlando Predators for 7 seasons, ultimately becoming one of the most decorated quarterbacks of all-time and earning a spot in the AFL Hall of Fame in 1999. In between playing stints with the Storm and Predators he served as the offensive coordinator for the Nashville Kats and head coach for the Orlando Predators from 1997 to 2001. When his playing days officially came to an end he headed to the NFL as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before returning to the AFL as a head coach and General Manager from 2004 to 2010. It was in 2011 that he made the permanent move to the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2014 the Washington Redskins tapped Gruden to head up their franchise.In his second season, he led the Redskins to a 9-7 record and NFC East title. Gruden coached Washington for parts of six seasons, compiling a 35-49-1 record.
