About Jeff Gorton
Jeff Gorton is the president of hockey operations for the Montreal Canadiens. Gorton started with the New York Rangers as a scout before being promoted to assistant director of player personnel. He also spent four seasons as the assistant general manager. In his position of general manager, Gorton has kept the Rangers among the NHL's elite franchises. He originally built a resume spending 15 years in the Boston Bruins organization. Gorton was the assistant general manager for seven seasons and had a stint as interim general manager. During his brief stint making personnel decisions in Boston, he helped the team land future stars Tuukka Rask, Brad Marchand, Phil Kessel and Milan Lucic in the NHL Entry Draft. He also acquired free agent All-Stars Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard. Gorton's first job in Boston came in the public relations department in 1992 before moving to the scouting department.
