About Jeff Maggert
Jeff Maggert was born in Columbia, Missouri. However, he sharpened his skills on the golf course in The Woodlands, Texas, where he starred on the McCullough High School golf team. After winning several amateur titles during his stellar prep career he headed to Texas A&M University. While playing for the Aggies he earned All-American honors and became one of the best players in program history. Maggert turned pro in 1986 and won his first title in 1988 at the Texas State Open. He’d go on to win the St. Louis Open that season as well. The following year he won the Malaysian Open and then captured the Vines Classic in Australia and his second Texas State Open title in 1990. His first win on the PGA Tour came in 1993 at the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic, where he won with an epic 23 under par performance. His other PGA Tour wins include the 1999 WGC-Anderson Consulting Match Play Championship and the 2006 FedEx St. Jude Classic. During his career he has also been a solid performer in major tournaments, finishing 3rd at the 1995 and 1997 PGA Championship, 5th at the 1996 Open Championship, 5th at the 2003 Masters Tournament and 3rd at the 2002 and 2004 U.S. Open.
